"Why We Created the Sobriety Pendant"

A New Life. One Day at a Time.

There are some pieces of jewelry we create because we love the design.
And then there are pieces we create because we’ve lived the story behind them.
The Sobriety Pendant is one of those pieces.

For our family, recovery isn’t an idea or a cause we simply care about. It’s part of our story. We’ve experienced what addiction can take from a person and from a family. We’ve also experienced something far more powerful: What can happen when someone chooses to begin again.

Recovery has taught us that a new life usually doesn’t happen all at once.
It happens one day at a time.
One decision at a time.
One surrender at a time.
And sometimes, one prayer at a time.
That’s the story behind our Sobriety Pendant.

The Old Has Passed Away

One of the verses that has come to represent this pendant for us is 2 Corinthians 5:17:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

There may be no better description of what recovery can look like.
There is an old life.
And then, slowly, there is a new one.

That doesn’t mean the past disappears. It doesn’t mean every wound immediately heals or every struggle
The memories remain.
The consequences of our choices sometimes remain.
But they don’t have to be the end of the story.
Through God’s grace, something new can begin.
That’s something we believe deeply at Forged By Fire.

We believe people can change.
We believe broken things can be restored.
We believe there is hope after failure.
And we believe that no matter how far someone has fallen, their worst chapter does not have to become their final chapter.

Why the Circle, Triangle, and Cross?

When we began thinking about a piece that could represent sobriety and recovery, we wanted the design itself to tell that story.
At first glance, the pendant is simple.
A circle.
A triangle.
And at the center of it all, a Cross.

But each part carries meaning.

You may recognize this if you are familiar with Alcoholics Anonymous.
The Circle represents wholeness and the fellowship found in recovery—the reminder that we were never meant to walk through life alone.
The Triangle represents three principles that have long been associated with recovery:
Recovery. Unity. Service.
Get well.
Walk alongside others.
And eventually, use your story to help someone else.
But for us, there was still something missing.
So we placed a Cross at the center.
Because that’s where we believe Christ belongs.
At the center of recovery.
At the center of renewal.
At the center of the new life we’re trying to build.

The Cross represents grace when we fail, forgiveness for what lies behind us, strength for today, and hope for whatever comes next.
It reminds us that we don’t have to rebuild our lives entirely through our own strength.
We can surrender.
We can trust.
And we can begin again.

One Day at a Time

One of the most beautiful things about recovery is that you don’t have to figure out the rest of your life today.
You just have to live today.
There is freedom in that.
Sometimes we become overwhelmed thinking about forever.
Can I really do this for the rest of my life?
Can I really change?
Can I really become a different person?
Maybe those aren’t the questions we need to answer today.
Maybe the question is simply:
What is the next right thing?

Today, choose sobriety.

Today, choose honesty.

Today, choose faith.

Today, make the phone call.

Today, ask for help.

Today, forgive.

Today, pray.

Today, take another step forward.

And tomorrow?

By the grace of God, we get up and do it again.

One day at a time.

More Than a Sobriety Date

We love sobriety milestones.
Thirty days matters.
Six months matters.
One year matters.
Three years matters.
Ten years matters.

Every one of those days represents battles fought that most people will never see.
But we didn’t want this pendant to simply commemorate a date.
We wanted it to represent the person someone is becoming.
Because recovery isn’t only about counting the days since you stopped doing something.
It’s about what you’re doing with the days you’ve been given back.
It’s about rebuilding trust.
Healing relationships.
Learning humility.
Serving others.
Rediscovering joy.
Growing in faith.
And slowly becoming the person God created you to be.

That’s the real gift of sobriety.
Not simply getting your old life back.
Getting the opportunity to build a new one.
An Emblem of a New Life
That’s ultimately why we created the Sobriety Pendant.

We wanted something tangible that could remind someone how far they’ve come.
Something they could reach for on a difficult day.
Something a husband could give his wife.
A mother could give her son.
A friend could give another friend.
Or someone in recovery could buy for themselves and say:

This is who I am now.

Not perfect.

Not finished.

But moving forward.

There is something powerful about carrying a symbol that reminds you of the promises you’ve made, the battles you’ve survived, and the faith that continues to carry you.
That’s what we hope this pendant becomes.
Not simply another piece of jewelry.
An Emblem of Honor.
An emblem of surrender.
An emblem of recovery.
An emblem of faith.
And most importantly, an emblem of new life.
Because your past may always be part of your story.
But it doesn’t get to write the ending.
